Paradise Lost

Paradise Lost

We were so close to happiness yet so far from forever.Something happened along the way to a life filled with bliss. We fail out of love. It really doesn’t matter who felt it first the only thing that really matters is that it occurred. The softness of your body echoes within these empty arms of mine. Like sand through an hourglass your slipped right through my hands and all I can do is wonder why?  we were so close to it just being you and I now all that reminds are images of time.
Times we spent together nights that we shared and the sound of your laughter brings my eyes to tears.
Remember that time in the caribbean? I swear we left the imprints of our bodies all over that pretty white sand. The flower in your hair the water glistening your skin.
Just that mere memory of you makes me not even hesitate to think that I would do it all over again. Such a special lady you are. You deserve all the best and so much more. I only wish I could have been the one to give you lasting joy. It’s funny how reflection can provide a window to one’s soul. The only problem is it shows you all the holes.

We went along caught up in our fantasy like sex drugs and rock and roll your love was all that to me. Hey but as all things must come to an end our love was no different still I can’t help but think that we almost made it. We were this close to happiness. As close as perfection could be.
A beautiful mix, an intoxicating blend and yet here we are now here at the end.

We’re not even touching yet I can feel you running all through me.
I can see that you too feel that electricity. Do we dare go there?
So close to the edge the slightest movement and we both go over.
We were this damn close to having now and forever. This damn close to kissing you and losing myself in a fairytale of love but something stopped us like it did once before.
We both realize where that road leads to now don’t we?
No sense traveling backwards spiraling out of control.

Our feet back on solid ground we set our course on different paths you go your way and I’ll go mine wishing one another well with just a touch of the hand.  As I turned to walk away the wind blew the sand. There would be no imprints this time from the last time you and I said our last goodbye.
